How to nudge couples to have more kids

Prof Chia Ngee Choon from the Dept of Economics at NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Ms Chia Han Mae from Munich Re noted that compared with one-off cash bonuses for babies, pro-natalist policies using tax and other long-term birth incentives help to defray a higher proportion of the cost of raising children. Such policies are also shown to have some impact on Singapore’s total fertility rate.
