Need for mosquito control and public health education

Assoc Prof Alex R. Cook and Assoc Prof Hsu Li Yang from the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at NUS opined that the Zika virus is likely to become endemic in Singapore. They added that risk mitigation strategies such as vector control as well as prevention and testing of Zika infection in pregnant women will be key, along with rapid adoption of an effective Zika vaccine should one be developed and commercialised.
