New green method to strengthen buildings

Researchers from the Dept of Building at NUS School of Design and Environment developed a novel technique to enhance concrete structures using wood waste. The new method, which mixes biochar produced from saw dust into cement, strengthens concrete structures by 20 per cent, improves impermeability to water by 50 per cent and helps to recycle wood waste generated in Singapore.
