NUS team finds new purpose for old clothes

A research team led by Assoc Prof Hai Minh Duong and Prof Nhan-Phan Thien from the Dept of Mechanical Engineering at NUS Faculty of Engineering has found a faster and cheaper way to create aerogel using cotton fabrics. The aerogel can be used to stem bleeding in gunshot wounds, and as a thermal insulator for military water bottles.
