At the forefront of research: NUS academics recognised among the world's leading scientists
In the Highly Cited Researchers 2025 List published by data analytics firm Clarivate, 37 NUS scientists have been ranked among the world’s most prominent researchers. Researchers honoured in this list have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their respective field(s) of research and have authored multiple highly cited papers – research papers which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year in the Web of Science over the past 11 years.
The Highly Cited Researchers 2025 List consists of NUS scientists from diverse fields such as Biology and Biochemistry, Chemistry, Economics and Business, Engineering, Immunology, Materials Science, Neuroscience and Behaviour, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physics and more.
This year, Clarivate presented 7,131 Highly Cited Researcher awards to 6,868 individuals from more than 1,300 institutions in 61 countries and regions, with 3,569 researchers recognised for cross-field impact and 258 researchers named in two or more fields.
Every year, the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) at Clarivate prepares the list using a broad and rigorous selection process. Besides citation activity, the list is further refined by adopting other quantitative metrics, qualitative analysis and expert judgement.
