The fundraising activity was spearheaded by the NUS Alumni Student Advancement Committee (ASAC) established by the NUS Alumni Advisory Board.

“The ASAC was formed in 2013 and led by our very own NUS Alumni, to develop and nurture initiatives that support bursaries for underprivileged students in NUS. This effort, is one of the many on-going fundraising activities organised by the committee for the alumni to give back to the NUS community in the spirit of love,” said Mr Johnny Tan, Co-Chairman of the NUS Alumni Advisory Board, who also chairs ASAC.

The total donations raised by the ASAC through this latest fundraising activity could potentially support awards to benefit almost 40 undergraduates from various NUS faculties.

NUS President Professor Tan Eng Chye said, “At NUS, we believe that deserving students should have access to a world-class university education regardless of their financial situation.  Through the sustained support and commitment of our alumni and friends, many talented NUS students, some of whom may be from less privileged backgrounds, have been given an opportunity to pursue their dreams. We are extremely grateful to all donors for their generosity, and this virtue of giving back is also what we hope to instill in our undergraduates.”

The dinner event was organised by NUS Office of Alumni Relations, NUS Development Office and the NUS Campus Couples Alumni Group. Close to 250 NUS alumni donors and friends of the University engaged and reconnected with the NUS community at the appreciation dinner.
