NUS graduates are 15th most employable in the world
Employability of NUS graduates has also improved, according to the latest Global University Employability Ranking 2016 published by Times Higher Education
Graduates from the National University of Singapore (NUS) are 15th most employable in the world, according to the latest Global University Employability Ranking published by the Times Higher Education (THE). Overall, NUS graduates enjoy better employability as the University moves up two places in the ranking from last year.
The Global University Employability Ranking, now in its sixth year, measures how universities perform on graduate employability. In the latest ranking, NUS is the third Asian university and the only Singapore university to be among the global top 15 list.
The Global University Employability Ranking 2016 was commissioned by French human resource consulting agency Emerging and conducted in April 2016 by European research agency Trendence. The survey was conducted with 2,500 recruiters from 20 countries, and a second panel of 3,500 international managers around the world. Survey participants were asked to define what they look for in graduates and choose the universities they believe produce the most employable graduates. The companies that participated in the survey covered all major business sectors, had more than 5,000 employees each and recruited more than 50 graduates each year.
Professor Tan Eng Chye, NUS Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost, said, “We are pleased that NUS graduates continue to be highly sought after by employers around the world. NUS’ education stresses academic rigour, experiential and global learning, and real-world relevance. Over the past few years, we have also intensified our efforts to prepare our students for a dynamic, fast-changing workplace of the future. The latest initiative is the introduction of the unique Roots & Wings programme that is designed to equip students with intra- and interpersonal skills that are essential for graduates to be future-ready. We are also supplementing this by giving students global and experiential learning through highly popular programmes such as the NUS Overseas Colleges Programme where students have a chance to work in fast-growing companies in high-tech hot spots around the world.”
“We will continue to pioneer fresh approaches to inculcate in our students a future-ready mindset, so that NUS graduates will continue to excel in their work roles and make valuable contributions to their organisations and the society at large,” Prof Tan added.
Earlier this year, NUS was ranked 24th in the world in the THE World University Rankings and was also the top Asian university for the second consecutive year in the annual rankings.
