Prof Wang Gungwu receives Queen’s Birthday Honours

Professor Wang Gungwu, University Professor at NUS Arts and Social Sciences and Chairman of the East Asian Institute at NUS, has been recognised as an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia as part of the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours. 

He was bestowed the honour “for distinguished service to tertiary education as an academic and researcher, particularly to far eastern history and the study of the Chinese diaspora, and to the enhancement of Australia-Asia relations”.

Prof Wang, also Emeritus Professor at the Australian National University, is an eminent historian who has made significant contributions to Asian studies.
