Returning to Asean can help Japan regain its soft power

Assoc Prof Tan Khee Giap, Co-director of the Asia Competitiveness Institute at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS and Mr Tan Yan Yi looked at how Japan could rebuild its soft power by refocusing its trade and investment efforts in Southeast Asia. They discussed a report published by the Institute which found that business elites in Asean saw Japan as the most trustworthy and welcomed country among the major powers.
