The impact of pandemic on employment and people’s livelihood

Visiting Prof Pei Sai Fan from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS discussed changes in Singapore’s economic structure and job market after the pandemic, including an acceleration towards digitalisation and automation to enhance the resilience of businesses. He also noted that if energy prices continue to drop in the long run, it will result in deflation and a sluggish economy with job losses.
