Too noisy? Sonic crystal windows to the rescue

Assoc Prof Lee Heow Pueh from the Dept of Mechanical Engineering at the NUS Faculty of Engineering led a team of seven researchers to design a new kind of window that could allow people to work better, sleep more soundly, breathe fresher air and save on electrical bills all at once. The windows, named sonic crystals, can reduce loudness by up to half for traffic and construction noise.
