When doctors and caregivers do not help patients make the best decisions

Prof Eric Finkelstein, Director of Lien Centre for Palliative Care and Professor of the Health Services and Systems Research Programme at Duke-NUS Medical School, noted that shared decision-making sounds great in theory, but is fraught with risks that are likely to promote excess medical care, especially for those with life limiting conditions.
