Young heart attack survivors still at risk
Assoc Prof Mark Chan from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, who was part of a retrospective study of over 15,000 heart attack patients in Singapore, cautioned that young people who survived a heart attack before they hit 40 face the elevated risk of dying earlier than their peers, which could continue to worsen by one per cent each year if the trend persists.
