China should neither trust the West too readily nor fear it

Prof Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute at NUS, discussed the importance of China maintaining an open economy. He opined that in order to maintain the openness, China should neither be overly afraid of the West, nor trust it too readily.
