India’s rising problem: Urban floods

Distinguished Visiting Professor Asit K Biswas of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS; Dr Cecilia Tortajada, Senior Research Fellow from the Institute of Water Policy at the School; and Ms Udisha Saklani, an independent policy researcher with the Institute noted that politicians blame climate change but ignore the need for planning and infrastructure to ease seasonal flooding that wreaks havoc in cities. They opined that India could follow Singapore’s example, which also has to deal with monsoons and has for the most part solved urban-drainage and water-security problems.
