A new frontier in Science

Assoc Prof Matthew Chang and Assoc Prof Yew Wen Shan, from the Dept of Biochemistry at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Assoc Prof Poh Chueh Loo from the Dept of Biomedical Engineering at NUS Faculty of Engineering, together with scientists at the NUS Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation and the Singapore Consortium for Synthetic Biology, have done exciting work in the field of synthetic biology. Synthetic biology is the design and building of biological systems to improve existing functions or introduce new purposes, by drawing inspiration from nature and uses materials offered by the living environment.
