Addressing the root cause of low morale among China's government officials

Dr Guo Liangping from the East Asian Institute at NUS discussed the reasons for the low morale among government officials in China and opined that the problem is entrenched because there are now stricter rules in place to keep the power of government officials in check. He added that public servants, robbed of the benefits that their positions used to afford, have thus lost drive and motivation.
