Dr Fung Fun Man awarded Global Young Academy membership

Dr Fung Fun Man from the NUS Department of Chemistry is the first and only Singaporean out of 45 early-and mid-career researchers to be awarded membership in the Global Young Academy (GYA) which aims to enable young researchers to lead international, interdisciplinary and intergenerational dialogue and contribute to societal challenges. He will commence his five-year term in May 2024.

Dr Fung’s research bridges the gap between digital learning and the science of learning, exploring how to empower learners through applied research in educational technology and experiential learning. His team pioneers the use of spatial reality to create immersive training environments for scientists in virtual laboratories.

“This honour is a tremendous privilege. I am thankful to receive the GYA membership and to join a very respected group of recipients. NUS gave me an enormous, once in a lifetime opportunity to build my academic career working alongside outstanding researchers. I am more determined to push the frontiers of research further, to answer increasingly complex questions,” said Dr Fung.
