HFMD vaccine research to carry out clinical trials in two to three years’ time
Researchers from NUS and the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology under A*STAR are currently working on a hand, foot and mouth disease vaccine which will help the body to produce antibodies to fight a combination of viruses. Assoc Prof Justin Chu from the Dept of Microbiology and Immunology at NUS Yong Loo Ling School of Medicine highlighted that children under seven would be the ideal recipient of the vaccine as older children would have previously been infected.
