Improve welfare of foreign domestic workers to prevent ‘care drain’

Assoc Prof Anju Mary Paul of Yale-NUS College opined that how we treat our foreign domestic workers is not just for the sake of having high standards vis-à-vis other countries. She cautioned that if Singapore does not position itself as a top destination for such migrants, the best of these workers will continue to seek out destinations where they can enjoy better working conditions and protection, leaving us with a “care drain”.
