Asst Prof Leong Ching, Co-Director of the Institute of Water Policy (IWP) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS and Provost’s Chair Prof Lorenz Goette from the Dept of Economics at NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences shared the key findings of a field experiment, that they conducted together with Dr Qian Neng from IWP, to test the role of economic and normative incentives in influencing environmental behavior. The study found that households do not need economic incentives to reduce water usage - normative incentives are enough.
