NUS and Microsoft collaborate on data science education and research & Launch of NUS Institute of Data Science

NUS and Microsoft signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 27 May 2016 to collaborate on data science education and research. The MOU was signed by NUS Deputy President (Research & Technology) Professor Ho Teck Hua and Microsoft Singapore Managing Director Ms Jessica Tan. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr Wong Ngit Liong, Chairman of NUS Board of Trustees; NUS President Professor Tan Chorh Chuan; Mr Satya Nadella, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft; and Mr Cesar Cernuda, President of Microsoft Asia Pacific.

NUS also launched the new Institute of Data Science (IDS). A key pillar of NUS' Smart Nation Research Cluster, the new S$12 million institute will be the focal point for all data science research and translation, education and related activities at NUS. Microsoft is the first industry partner of IDS.
