Ms Chew Gek Khim, Ms Jeanette Wong and Professor Timothy L. Killeen will join the NUS Board of Trustees on 1 April 2020

As part of planned Board renewals, Ms Kay Kuok, who has served on the NUS Board of Trustees for 12 years, will step down from the Board on 31 March 2020. Ms Kuok is a barrister-at-law and works full-time in her family business, the Kuok Group of Companies. Ms Kuok will continue to serve as Chair of the Yale-NUS College Governing Board after she steps down from the NUS Board.

Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, Chairman of the NUS Board, said, "We are delighted to welcome Gek Khim, Jeanette and Timothy to our Board. Their expertise in their respective fields and rich experience will benefit NUS immensely as we pursue our aspiration to be a leading global university. We look forward to them joining us in this exciting journey at NUS.”

“We also want to extend our deepest appreciation to Kay for her many outstanding contributions to NUS. She has served on numerous board committees, including chairing the nominating committee. She also strongly supported the University through various challenges. A recent example was her chairing of the NUS Review Committee for Sexual Misconduct last year. We are grateful that although Kay is stepping down from the Board of Trustees, she will continue to support NUS in her other role as Chair of the Yale-NUS College Governing Board,” said Mr Hsieh.

With the latest changes, the NUS Board of Trustees will have 20 members.

Members of the Board of Trustees are appointed by the Minister for Education. The Board is made up of eminent leaders from the public sector, academia, businesses and various professions. The Board works closely with the management and stakeholders of the University to shape its vision, chart major directions, and guide significant initiatives to produce a strong and enduring impact for the University, and for Singapore and beyond.
