NUS experts offer insights on the existence and historical importance of Hang Tuah

Researchers from the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences shared their insights on Hang Tuah, an illustrious warrior of the 15th Century Melaccan Sultanate. Assoc Prof John Miksic from the Dept of Southeast Asian Studies shared about the historical documents and correspondences in the region that point to Hang Tuah’s existence, while Dr Azhar Ibrahim, from the Dept of Malay Studies, discussed Malay literature texts about Hang Tuah and how Hang Tuah’s existence has become a mythology and legend.
