NUS researcher named among MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under-35 list for Asia Pacific

Asst Prof Chen Po-Yen from the Dept of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NUS Faculty of Engineering was named one of the best 20 young scientists in the MIT Technology Review’s 2020 Innovators Under-35 list for Asia-Pacific. He developed a wearable material that can withstand heat of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius which can be used to make fireproof clothing. The material could also be used to make lighter prosthetic or soft robotic limbs that consume less energy.
