Observing the development status of China’s soft power and its international influence

Dr Yu Hong of the East Asian Institute at NUS noted that judging from the indicators of its economic growth and development of military power, there was no doubt that China had joined the ranks of world powers. However, he highlighted, it is difficult for China to become a truly global power because the development of China’s soft power does not match the strength of its hard power.
