Predictability needed as anchor with outlook dicey

Assoc Prof Donald Low from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS, and Mr Manu Bhaskaran, CEO of Centennial Asia Advisors, discussed the uncertainties facing the Singapore economy. They opined that there is a strong case to be made for fiscal policy to provide counter-cyclical support; provide greater predictability in areas such as taxes, duties and other statutory costs; and strengthen the role of automatic stabilisers.
