Prof Phoon Kok Kwang receives Humboldt Research Award

Professor Phoon Kok Kwang, NUS Vice Provost (Academic Personnel) and a Distinguished Professor, has been elected the recipient of a Humboldt Research Award. Prof Phoon, whose expertise lies in risk and reliability in geotechnical engineering, has been with the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at NUS Engineering since 1995.
The Humboldt Research Award is granted in recognition of a researcher’s lifelong achievements to academics whose fundamental discoveries, new theories or insights have had a significant impact on their own discipline and who are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements in the future. In addition, the award winner is invited to carry out research projects of his/her own choice in cooperation with specialist colleagues in Germany.
