Shaping new international strategy of China’s rise

Prof Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute at NUS, noted that China hopes to achieve a well-off society for the country before the time of its 13th Five-year Plan. He opined that the various problems facing China, such as the South China Sea issue and the North Korea nuclear crisis, are challenges as well as international opportunities for the country and added that how China handles the issues will therefore determine if it can rise rapidly.
