Singapore: A port city in search of a hinterland

Prof Tan Tai Yong, President of Yale-NUS College, discussed Singapore’s search for a ‘hinterland’ – or economic space – and opined that its prosperity has always been due to its ability to find and adapt to shifting hinterlands.
