Stalemate in the South China Sea: Where would it go from here?

Prof Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute at NUS, noted that the increasingly dire situation in the South China Sea has reached a stalemate. He opined that a major international dispute over the South China Sea would have serious ramifications for China, but added that China would be seen as a model to be emulated if it could stabilise the situation and seek a peaceful resolution to the South China Sea disputes.
