The case for self-sustaining rural areas

Distinguished Visiting Professor Asit K Biswas from the Lee Kuan Yew of Public Policy at NUS, Dr Cecilia Tortajada, Senior Research Fellow at the School’s Institute of Water Policy and Ms Udisha Saklani, an independent policy researcher with the Institute, noted that India needs a new path of development that will ensure sustainable livelihood of the rural people that would reduce rural-urban migration and thus make a positive impact on cities.
