The future of America's foreign policy in Asia

Prof Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute at NUS noted that the foreign policy of the US in Asia is aimed at curtailing China’s growth and preventing ‘threats’ to the US and its allies in the Asia-Pacific region. As such, interactions between the US and China will affect the future of Southeast Asia as the lack of trust between the two countries can lead to conflict in the region.
