The rise of venture capital in China and its consequences

Prof Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute at NUS, pointed out the need for China to step up the development of its finance industry and shared suggestions on how it can be done. He noted that the main focus among investors in China today is how to make a quick buck, even if it is at the expense of society. He opined that this trend, if allowed to perpetuate, will be detrimental to China\'s development.
