Thriving in adversity, finding path to growth by leveraging core competencies

Assoc Prof Nitin Pangarkar from the Dept of Strategy & Policy at NUS Business School discussed the growth of Singapore-based marine supplies Amos International despite a decade-long slump in its industry. He opined that Amos’ growth formula boils down to two simple strategies: leveraging existing competencies and developing new ones closely related to existing competencies, thus further cementing the firm’s competitive advantage.
