Topping international construction research

NUS has been ranked top globally for international construction research by the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, ahead of 72 other institutions including University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University and University of Melbourne, among others.

International construction research includes four core themes — risk management, performance measurement, general strategy and competitiveness, as well as foreign market entry decisions.

The bibliometric analysis spanned a 10‐year period from 2003 to 2013 and took into account 87 articles that met the selection criteria for keywords in international construction research as at 30 October 2014.

NUS ranked first in terms of total number of articles produced; number of articles produced by a single institution; and number of first author articles produced. NUS was also ranked second for the number of collaborative inter‐institutional articles produced.

In terms of single-country publications, NUS has produced 12 articles, with eight being written by NUS Design and Environment’s (SDE) Professor Low Sui Pheng. Of the 16 papers that have been cited at least 25 times, NUS contributed to the largest number. These most cited articles were authored or co-authored by Prof Low as well as Professor George Ofori and Professor Florence Ling, both from SDE.
