Transforming labour for the future economy

Dr Faizal Yahya, Senior Research Fellow and Mr Mooris Tjioe, Research Assistant, both from the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) at NUS wrote that a research by IPS has predicted that by 2060, the ageing population will create a drag of 1.5 per cent on Singapore’s GDP per capita per annum. They opined that only through encouraging Singaporeans themselves – employers and employees in both the private and public sectors – to embrace change can the country effect proper economic transformation that will benefit everyone.
