Using LEDs to destroy salmonella
A study conducted by Asst Prof Yuk Hyun-Gyun from the Food Science and Technology Programme at the NUS Faculty of Science, and former NUS PhD student Dr Vinayak Ghate, showed that blue LEDs of wavelength 460 nanometers could kill strains of salmonella bacteria in unpasteurised orange juice.
