Young investigator award in lipid research

Associate Professor Chng Shu Sin from the Department of Chemistry at NUS Faculty of Science is the 2019 recipient of the prestigious Walter A Shaw Young Investigator Award in Lipid Research. This honour is bestowed by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) on one young scientist each year for making outstanding research contributions in the area of lipids.

Assoc Prof Chng was cited for his contribution to the understanding of bacterial lipid trafficking, and that he “has already cemented himself as a world leader in his field”. He delivered an award lecture at the ASBMB annual meeting in Orlando, US, sharing his group’s research towards understanding outer membrane biogenesis and antibiotic resistance in bacteria.
