Asst Prof Shruti Bhatt selected for EMBO Global Investigator Network

Assistant Professor Shruti Bhatt from the Department of Pharmacy at NUS Faculty of Science has been selected as new member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Global Investigator Network. She was among eight group leaders selected this year. 

Asst Prof Bhatt’s research adopts functional and genomic approaches to understand the complex process of evolution of resistance to cancer therapy, specifically acute myeloid leukaemia. She studies how a population of rare cells – drug-tolerant persisters (DTPs) – escape treatment and contribute to relapse. 

The EMBO Global Investigator Network supports life scientists who have an excellent scientific track record and have been group leaders for at least one but less than six years. Launched in 2019, the network provides global investigators with opportunities for exchanges with other scientists in their region and elsewhere.
