Assoc Prof Alberto Salvo achieves JAERE Best Paper Award 2020

Associate Professor Alberto Salvo's article “Local Pollution as a Determinant of Residential Electricity Demand” has won the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (JAERE) Best Paper Award for 2020.

JAERE is the flagship research journal of the US-based Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE). The award was presented during the AERE Summer Conference held virtually from 2 – 4 June 2021.

The winning paper bridges the gap between the literatures on energy and pollution. It also contributes to the growing literature on environmental justice by integrating an essential insight on how capital constraints restrict low-income households' access to technology that might help them avoid important health costs from pollution. The results of the study were published in JAERE in July 2020.
