Asst Prof Andy Tay awarded NCID Fellowship

Andy_007-neutral_v2Assistant Professor Andy Tay, Presidential Young Professor from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Design and Engineering, has been awarded a short-term fellowship from the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) for a two-week exchange to the University of Sydney in November 2022.

During his visit, Asst Prof Tay will learn about phage manufacturing as well as share on the use of bio and nanomaterials to enhance phage therapy for combating multidrug resistance bacterial species.

Honoured by the World Economic Forum in its Class of 2020 Young Scientists for his contribution to cutting edge research, Asst Prof Tay also made it to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list under the Science category in 2019. He was recognised for his research in modulating pain with magnetic hydrogels, which can be used to treat pain without the use of drugs or other invasive therapies.
