Assistant Professor Koh Ming Joo from the NUS Department of Chemistry has been recognised as Talented 12 class of 2022 by Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN) for his work on sustainable catalysis.

Asst Prof Koh’s research team develops catalyst systems derived mainly from nonprecious metals such as iron and nickel. Their efforts led to the discovery of new multitasking and energy-efficient catalysts which are used to transform cheap and abundant feedstock chemicals into value-added products with a lower carbon footprint.

Now in its eighth year, C&EN's Talented 12 is an annual accolade honouring early-career researchers in the chemical sciences who are fearlessly tackling difficult global problems. Selected from a highly competitive pool of over 400 nominees, 2022’s Talented 12 class highlights the diversity of chemical scientists from Brazil, China, Egypt, Nigeria, Romania, Singapore, and the US.
