Asst Prof Tan Yu Jun recognised with Materials Research Society Postdoctoral Award

Assistant Professor Tan Yu Jun from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUS Faculty of Engineering was accorded the Materials Research Society (MRS) Postdoctoral Award at the 2021 Virtual MRS Spring Meeting held from 17-23 April. Asst Prof Tan was selected for her work in “developing stretchable, self-healing materials for smart electronics”, and is also the first faculty member from an Asian university to receive the MRS Postdoctoral Award.

This award recognises postdoctoral scholars who show exceptional promise including excellence in scientific research, leadership, advocacy, outreach, or teaching, during their postdoctoral assignment.

Asst Prof Tan’s research interests include manufacturing technologies (such as 3D printing) and functional materials (such as self-healing materials, electronic materials, and biomaterials) to develop soft machines and electronics. She has authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles including Nature Materials, Nature Electronics, Nature Communications, Science Robotics and Advanced Materials.
