FASS Strategic Comms team scores double win at PR industry awards

The strategic communications team from the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) bagged two wins at the PRISM Awards 2023 organised by the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore to recognise excellence in communications practice.

The FASS team took home a Distinction award in the “Outstanding Issue Management or Crisis Communication” category for its issue management programme that has successfully mitigated several issues and prevented public exposure in some cases. They also won a Merit award in the “Outstanding In-House Team” category for the transformation of the FASS portfolio and branding over the last two years.

Said FASS Dean Professor Lionel Wee: “This incredible dual win reflects our strategic communications team’s commitment to safeguarding the FASS brand image and upholding the quality of our collaborations with University peers and external partners. We are thrilled by this recognition of their impactful work, which has raised FASS’ profile in the eyes of prospective students, stakeholders and the general public.”

Mr Nisar Keshvani, Head of Strategic Communications at FASS, credits support from various stakeholders within NUS as the team continues to innovate and reinvent the communication approach. “Be it through research, curriculum or outside the classroom, our Deanery, staff and students are exemplars – ever ready to participate and explore ways to share relatable stories and experiences to connect with and engage our audiences.”

Over the past three years, the Strategic Communications team had undertaken several initiatives to effectively position FASS as a leading research institute, such as improving internal communications processes, broadening communication outreach through new digital channels, revamping the issue management approach to focus on speed and transparency of communications, as well as promoting FASS’ new wellness and support structure.
