NUS Biomedical Engineering academics elected IUPESM Fellows

Professor Lim Chwee Teck and Associate Professor Leo Hwa Liang, both from the Department of Biomedical Engineering were elected as Fellows of the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM) at the IUPESM World Congress 2022. The Fellowships recognise their outstanding contributions to the international development of physical and engineering sciences in medicine.

A prolific researcher, Prof Lim is also the NUS Society Chair Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of the Institute for Health Innovation and Technology at NUS. His research interest is in human disease mechanobiology as well as development of innovative microfluidic and wearable technologies for biomedical applications. Assoc Prof Leo’s research interests lies at the intersection of fluid dynamics and medicine, specifically on cardiovascular engineering and biofluids.

The IUPESM, which started in 1980 with 20,000 members from 54 countries, represents an estimated total global workforce of 150,000 professionals from 98 countries.
